What it is

Gums that bleed when you brush aren’t normal, and they aren’t hopeless. Early gum disease is reversed by a deeper cleaning under the gumline and better habits at home. Later gum disease is managed — it’s the leading cause of tooth loss in adults, and the easiest one to stop.

We numb the area for deep cleanings, so it doesn’t hurt. Then you come back more often than the usual six months for a while, and we measure whether it’s working.

What happens

  1. Measure

    The pocket depth around every tooth is recorded. This is the number we’ll compare against later.

  2. Deep clean

    Numbed, one side of the mouth per visit, tartar removed from below the gumline.

  3. Maintain

    Re-measure after six weeks. Then a cleaning every three or four months until the numbers hold.
